Discovery Den

"The Media Center pathway is where you create a 3D block that shows six different natural disasters. It is really fun because you get to design everything yourself and easily find pictures and information for each disaster. The best part is when you finish your project, you can see your 3D block in real life using an iPad. It’s awesome to watch something you created come to life right in front of you." -5th Grade Student

In Whitlow’s Discovery Den, students learn by moving, creating, and exploring. Our library bikes let students pedal while they read, giving them an active seating option that boosts Focus, energy, and reading stamina. It’s a simple idea: Pedal + Read = Focus, and students love it.

In the makerspace, hands-on STEM learning comes to life. Students collaborate, code, design, and solve problems together, whether they’re programming robots, building algorithms, or tackling creative design challenges. Every activity connects to curriculum-based tasks in literacy, social studies, and science, helping students strengthen critical thinking, creativity, and perseverance while reinforcing what they learn in the classroom.

Most of all, the Discovery Den is a place where students can explore, imagine, and bring their ideas to life. It’s learning that feels like discovery.
